DHET encourages students to apply to Transnet internship

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has today reminded students of an internship opportunity with Transnet which is closing its applications later this month.

The Transnet Nation Ports Authority Internship Programme is taking applications until 25th March, which still leaves students a decent amount of time to take part.

“Transact National Ports Authority (TNPA) seeks to employ interns who wish to enhance or gain meaningful workplace exposure for a period of 24 months in their respective fields or related discipline. The Programme will address issues of youth unemployment,” reads a poster tweeted by DHET.

Applications can be done through the Transnet careers portal available here. Applicants will need to register for an account there and then apply to the internship position.

Alternatively an email with a CV can be sent to the following contacts depending on the preferred location:

  • Head Office in Ngqura: TNPArecruitment2[at]transnet[dot]net.
  • Eastern Region – Ports of Richards Bay and Durban: TNPADBNrecruitinent5[at]transnetnet[dot]net.
  • Central Region – Potts of East London and Nelson Mandela Bay (Gqeberha and Ngqura):  NGQhumanresources[at]transnet[dot]net.
  • Western Region – Ports of Mossel Bay, Cape Town and Saldanha: TNPArecruitmentcpt[at]transnet[dot]net.

Applicants should note that, if they don’t receive a contract within 30 days after the 25th March closing date, their application is unsuccessful.

Also of note is the criteria for students. Those studying at a higher education institution towards a diploma, degree or postgraduate qualification will need to be pursuing one of fields in the list below, which we have arranged into alphabetical order.
