How to watch the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 for free

After what feels like too long of a break, Formula 1 roars back into action this weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

Of course, pre-season testing has been happening all month but this weekend we finally get to see some racing action. With Max Verstappen now set to defend his title as World Champion and Lewis Hamilton looking to claim an 8th title, this season could be a cracker.

As you might be aware, F1 TV Pro is available in South Africa. This streaming service gives you access to all Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup live streams as well as onboard cameras, access to team radios and much more.

Usually a subscription to F1 TV Pro costs $4.99 (~R74.47) but there is currently a free trial available that lasts for seven days. There is also F1 TV Access but this service only offers replays, highlights and access to onboard cameras. At $2.99 (~44.60) F1 TV Access is cheaper but limited. For the free trial you will need to select the F1 TV Pro package so head here and signup.

There are no strings attached to this free trial and you can cancel your subscription after the race on Sunday evening. However, if you want maximise your free trial we recommend signing up on Sunday just before lights out. We recommend this because next weekend on 27th March is the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and signing up for the trial on Sunday will give you access to two races before you actually have to pay.

It’s not much but if you’re no longer using DStv or just want to why Drive to Survive pales in comparison to the real thing, this is a good way to test the waters.
