Monster Hunter Rise now free to try with Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have another game added to the “free to try” offerings that allows unlimited access to a game for a set amount of time, and it’s Monster Hunter Rise.

From now, 11th March, until 17th March the game can be downloaded and played without any restrictions. Again this isn’t a demo or something similar, it is the full game albeit with a time limit attached to it.

This release coincides with the recent update to the game to version 3.9.1 whose patch notes you can read here. Along with the standard bug fixes and improvements there are new event quests and purchasable DLC from the Nintendo eShop.

It’s coming up on a year since the original release of the game on 26th March 2021 which is why, as you can see in the promotional tweet at the bottom of this page, it’s lauded as being “better than ever”. A year of updates and additional added content makes it a good time to try the game again even if you bounced off of it when it first came out.

With all of the above in mind it’s worth remembering that Monster Hunter Rise isn’t a Nintendo Switch exclusive and you don’t even need an Online membership to try it for free.

The game is also available on PC and, for both platforms, a free demo is available. Yes this is a traditional demo that is limited in scope, but it really is the easiest way to give Monster Hunter Rise a spin without spending a cent.
