Razer’s Seiren Bluetooth lapel mic is massive

Lavalier or lapel microphones are meant to be small enough to hide so that they can capture clear audio while remaining out of sight.

We’re not sure Razer received that memo because its latest product is a lapel microphone that looks more like an electronic cigarette.

The Razer Seiren Bluetooth is aimed at IRL streamers who usually have to make use of a wired microphone to capture clear audio.

“By using the Seiren BT, IRL streamers can get creative with their stream, using selfie-sticks and other mounts, without the worry of getting tangled in wires. The Seiren BT uses a simple clip-on design, letting the streamer use expansive, wide-angle shots, and frame themselves away from their mobile while maintaining clear on-stream audio,” Razer said in a press release.

The microphone features Bluetooth 5.0 and is made up of six omnidirectional microphones. Razer adds that the Seiren BT will also be able to intelligently filter out background noise through the Razer Streaming Mobile App. There is also an analogue connection available should the battery power run out. On that, Razer claims the 140mAh battery will last for six hours before giving up the ghost.

Aside from IRL streamers however, we’re not sure many folks will make use of this piece of tech.

Some of the other streamer gear Razer revealed this week may prove useful however.

For example, the Razer Audio Mixer looks like a nice piece of kit for streamers.

“The Razer Audio Mixer allows streamers to control multiple audio sources on-the-fly, balancing the volume levels between sources, muting channels as needed and even adding vocal effects to enhance their streams. This level of control is simple and easy to set-up, making it accessible to every streamer regardless of technical expertise, thanks to the direct input support for the most commonly used audio connections, including hybrid-XLR (with 48V Phantom Power), TRS Line In and Out, Optical TOS and more,” Razer said.

The audio mixer is fully integrated with Razer Synapse 3 allowing users to access a range of audio functions such as noise-gate, equalisers and more.

Finally, Razer also unveiled its Razer Key Light Chroma which is powered by Razer Chroma RGB. This key light can display up to 16.8 million colours, pushes 2 800 lumens and has a white temperature ranging from 3 000 to 7 000K.

The Razer Key Light Chroma ships with a desk clamp mounting pole, screws and a ball joint for easy position.

As for pricing, Razer has set the Razer Seiren BT at €109.99, the Razer Audio mixer at €259.99 and the Razer Key Light Chroma at €299.99 each.
