Xbox Game Studios highlights what titles work on the Steam Deck

Xbox Game Studios (XGS) has provided an update on what games will and won’t work on the Steam Deck, along with an explanation for how it came to be.

“Here at XGS we love gaming and think people should be able to play our games as freely and easily as possible – any time, any place, sharing incredible experiences with friends or immersing themselves in solo adventures,” the post reads.

“It’s up to our studios how they fit Steam Deck integration for their games into their busy schedules, and with a lot of great stuff already in the works some titles may take longer.”

Below is the list provided by XGS which we’ve sorted into alphabetical order. It’s grouped into the categories of Verified, Playable and Unsupported (due to anti-cheat).

Verified

  • Battletoads
  • Deathloop
  • Fallout Shelter
  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
  • Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
  • Prey
  • Psychonauts 2
  • The Evil Within

Playable

  • Fallout 4
  • Forza Horizon 5
  • Quantum Break
  • Sea of Thieves
  • State of Decay: YOSE

Unsupported, due to anti-cheat

  • Gears 5
  • Halo MCC
  • Halo Infinite
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator X

As a reminder Valve created the Steam Deck Verified programme which named these categories as well as a fourth one not used here which is simply “Unknown”.

According to Valve, Verified means that a game runs great on the Steam Deck and works with the hardware in terms of input, seamlessness, display and system support. Playable means that some tinkering is required from the player to get the best experience.

The Unsupported and Unknown are rather self-explanatory with the latter simply meaning that a third party hasn’t had a chance to verify how a piece of software runs on the Steam Deck.

Those who are lucky enough to already own a Steam Deck can find the Verified programme details here which also includes a list of games that were recently verified with Elden Ring, Risk of Rain 2, Apex Legends and more included.

Back to the Xbox Game Studios titles and the real upset here is Microsoft Flight Simulator X which isn’t a competitive game like the other three in the Unsupported list.
