Xiaomi sub-brand POCO debuts new flagship X4 Pro 5G at MWC 22

Ever heard of POCO? It is a sub-brand of Chinese phone maker Xiaomi and in the coming months, it is a name that savvy smartphone users may want to get familiar with as the company debuted a new flagship phone at MWC 22 this week in the form of the X4 Pro 5G.

The company is billing it as a an all-around premium device that will not break the bank and running through its specifications, it seems to tick many of the boxes that we look for.

Up front is a large 6.67″ AMOLED display that supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Added to this is an equally large 108MP lens on the rear, which some other flagship phones struggle to match.

Powering this experience is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, which is not the best that the silicon maker produces, but is more than capable at a clock speed of 2.2Ghz.

One of the other notable aspects is a 5 000mAh battery that supports up to 15 hours of continuous video playback according to POCO, along with boasting 67W fast charging that can be fully charged from zero percent in 41 minutes.

As such, on paper at least, the POCO X4 Pro 5G has pretty much all you need from a flagship phone these days.

We don’t have local pricing and availability just yet, but a press release we received from Xiaomi confirms that it, “will be available in the South African market very soon.”

Along with the X4 Pro 5G, POCO revealed the M4 Pro. It features a respectable range of components, including a 6.43″ display with 90Hz refresh rate, triple lens setup with 64MP primary shooter and a 5 000mAh battery.

We reviewed its predecessor last year and were impressed, so the same is expected from the M4 Pro. Like the flagship phone, it too is set to land in SA soon.
