Loadshedding moving down to Stage 3 this evening

Eskom has offered the smallest amount of respite from loadshedding this week by announcing tat it will be moved down to Stage 3 from 22:00 this evening.

The ailing power utility shared an alert on its official Twitter account confirming the move, while also noting that loadshedding will remain in place until 05:00 on Friday morning.

At the time of writing, however, it remains to be seen if loadshedding will need to stay in place past the aforementioned Friday morning, especially as Eskom has urged citizens to limit their electricity use where possible.

As for why Stage 3 can take effect this evening, Eskom explains that six generation units have returned to operation over the past 24 hours, with a further three more expected to return tomorrow.

That said, depending on the level of breakdowns, Stage 3 may continue or indeed be escalated should the power utility encounter more problems.

For now, we will take any good news we can.
