Collaborations are nothing new for Samsung and this latest one sees the South Korean company partnering with one of the hottest IPs at the moment – Pokémon.
This as the electronics maker has designed a Pokémon-themed Galaxy Z Flip 3 that draws a lot of inspiration from the property. It also looks like this foldable device could be exclusive to South Korea as well, if this landing page is anything to go by.
Said page features a countdown time for 25th April, when more information on the device is likely to be shared.
While we do not have the full details at this stage, we can still infer a bit from a rendered image on the landing page showcasing some of the elements and accessories that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Pokémon Edition will feature.
Firstly to burst many a bubble, the Z Flip 3 will not look like a Pokédex, which is an odd choice, as TechCrunch points out, especially as the Pokédex is a foldable piece of tech that Pokémon trainers use in the animated series and several games based on the franchise.
There is, however, a carrying case for the Flip 3 that is Pokédex designed in nature.
Along with that accessory, the Pokémon Edition also seems to feature some Pikachu-themed protective cover, key chain and tags to adorn your foldable phone with, as well as some cards featuring a fewof the more iconic first generation Pokémon.
Whether anything else is included, such as wallpapers, themes or UI elements for the Pokémon Edition, remains to be seen, but more information will likely be forthcoming on 25th April.
For now, it is unclear whether Samsung plans to launch this collaborative outside of South Korean and indeed how much it will cost compared to the regular Galaxy Z Flip 3.
