[UPDATE] The country returns from Easter weekend to be greeted by Stage 4 Loadshedding

UPDATE: Eskom has issued another power alert, confirming that Stage 4 Loadshedding will be in place until 5:00 on Friday morning, 22nd April, as it continues to work to repair failing generation units.

On Sunday afternoon, the entire country was hit with the news that stage 2 loadshedding had to be implemented for Eskom to deal with a severe loss in generating capacity.

Said loadshedding was set to last until Wednesday morning, but South Africa has been given another blow as the power utility has had to implement stage 4 loadshedding with immediate effect.

At the time of writing, there is no indication for how long this spate of loadshedding will last, but Eskom has advised that a media briefing will be taking place at 10:00, where Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter will provide an update on the situation.

With the Celsius continuing to drop, along with recovery efforts in KwaZulu-Natal ongoing, this stage 4 loadshedding comes at the worst time possible.

As such, as we regularly advise, it is best to keep track of the loadshedding schedule for your area via the EskomSePush app.

Either way, this four-day long week will prove to be a testing one for many South Africans.
