The Yoco Khumo lets merchants print receipts

Despite how popular digital payment solutions have become, there are times when you need a slip of paper to confirm you made a purchase, just in case issues arise along the road.

For informal merchants and small businesses, a point of sale device that can also print receipts is quite the investment and Yoco wants to make that investment less irksome.

The firm has announced the launch of the Yoco Khumo Print which allows merchants to print receipts.

“While our earlier card machines focussed on bringing the necessities to small business owners who did not have access to card payments, we are now concentrated on providing them with every tool they need to get paid and run a successful business,” explains chief technology officer at Yoco, Lungisa Matshoba.

The Khumo Print sports a touchscreen as well as a dual-SIM tray so that merchants can stay connected even if one network goes down. Yoco adds that Khumo Print can process transactions in under two seconds.

The point of sale device also includes unlimited 4G data and can connect to WiFi. While it does cost more than the base Khumo (R499), at R1 399, if it’s functionality you need, this is a great once-off payment solution. There are also three paper rolls included in the box for additional cost savings.

“Our ambition is to be an all-in-one payments platform for customers. Providing a printing option for the merchants that need it to close a sale and ensure that they deliver a positive customer experience for their business is one more step towards this purpose,” Yoco’s CTO concludes.
