Latest ASUS Zenbooks arrive in SA in July

On Monday evening, ASUS showed off a slew of new notebooks and we’ve received word that two of the models announced will be landing in South Africa soon.

Those two models are both from the ZenBook range, namely the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (UX8402) and the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX7602). Let’s take a closer look at what is on offer here starting with the smaller Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED.

As the name implies, this notebook sports the 12.7inch touch screen at the top of the keyboard that can be tilted and used for increased productivity. On a hardware level, this display also helps with cooling by lifting the keyboard up and allowing 30 percent more air to flow through the notebook ASUS says.

Sticking with cooling, the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED features ASUS’ new Ice Cool Pro solution. This cooling employs two IceBlade fans which house 97 blades combined with a vapour chamber and 5mm heat pipes running over the CPU and GPU. This sounds good but the proof is in the pudding.

In terms of hardware specs, the notebook houses a 12th Gen Intel Core processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. For storage configurations it can sport up to 2TB of PCIe storage, but the real star here is 32GB of LPDDR5 memory. This should help alleviate some bottlenecks but remember that a system is only as fast as its slowest component.

This looks like a great notebook on paper with some bleeding edge specs and a 4K 60Hz OLED display that has touch support. The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED arrives in South Africa in July and will have a recommended retail price of R44 999.

The Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (pictured in the header image) is a larger alternative to the Pro 14 Duo albeit without the 12inch secondary display. Despite that, this notebook features the AAS Ultra mechanism which gives the internal components more room to breath by raising the keyboard 14.5mm.

Instead of the second display you will find a physical ASUS Dial which can be used in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom Classic, After Effects and Illustrator. This means the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED is aimed at creators and it has more than a dial to back that up.

For one, the 16inch 4K OLED display is PANTONE Validated and covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

In terms of specs you will find Intel’s latest 12th Gen Intel Core CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. Like its smaller counterpart the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED sports up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 2TB of PCIe storage.

The Zenbook Pro 16X OLED also arrives in South Africa in July and prices start at R59 999.
