Disney has revealed our very first look at Ahsoka, the latest Disney+ show from the world of Star Wars.
This first look isn’t a production still or costume test or anything like that, just a director’s chair with “Ahsoka” printed on the back and a cowboy hat on the side at a filming location. We’ll get back to the hat in a minute.
We get a sliver more information from the official Star Wars website.
“Ahsoka Tano’s next adventure has begun. Today Lucasfilm shared a photo to mark the start of production on Ahsoka, the upcoming Disney+ Original series. Check it out below!,” the site reads.
Before we get to the second half of the description now is your time to leave this story if you want to avoid spoilers. While we would usually freely tackle spoilers for content that has been around for a while now, the spoilers pertain to series on Disney+ which has not launched in many countries yet including South Africa.
With Disney+ set to launch on 18th May 2022 in South Africa, that will be the first time local Star Wars fans will be able to access this content legally.
“Ahsoka Tano first debuted in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, before starring in the animated series of the same name, and appearing in Star Wars Rebels and more. The beloved character would then make the jump to live-action in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett,” the rest of the description reads.
Rosario Dawson provided us with the live action version of the character in these two Star Wars shows so far and will be returning for this standalone adventure.
Aside from Dawson the other person involved in the project is obviously Dave Filoni, an integral part of the Star Wars creative team famous for wearing cowboy hats. Filoni is also known for helping to create and flesh out Ahsoka so it we’re happy to know he’s returning here.
Lastly, and this has nothing to do with the show, we have to laugh at the fact that a chair is used to do this reveal. This is because there’s a long-running joke in the Star Wars fandom about chairs. The wiki dedicated to Star Wars – Wookieepedia – is known to be so detailed it has long, excruciatingly researched pages about even the most mundane topics… including chairs.
There used to be one dedicated article about chairs but it seems this was not enough so it has been broken down into a disambiguation page which links to, by our count, 24 different articles about this furniture.
This page even links to a separate disambiguation page about the chair subcategory of thrones.
