The Boys season three gets a real trailer this time

Back in March we got our first look at season three of The Boys by way of a teaser trailer, but now we have a bit more to look at in the form of a full trailer.

This trailer answers a few questions that were raised in the teaser, such as Butcher now having super powers.

Butcher – and presumably Mother’s Milk, Hughie and Frenchie – aren’t proper supers but instead can gain powers for 24 hours at a time. We also have to wonder if this will have any effect on Kimiko, who is the only member of the team with real, permanent superpowers.

This is unlike the original comic for the franchise in which all of The Boys are superpowered right from the get go. We’re excited to see how much of the season will come from the comics as the first two were so removed from them.

Along with what we see in the trailer we also have a short written description:

“It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into The Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy,” the description reads.

Soldier Boy is played by Jensen Ackles of Supernatural fame and it’s clear that this version of the character is heavily inspired by (or is parodying) the Chris Evens Captain America from the MCU, specifically the version from after Civil War complete with a beard and smaller, pointier shields.

The Boys season three releases only on Amazon Prime Video on 3rd July.
