Summer Game Fest will focus on titles that have already been announced

With E3 not taking place this year, gamers are going to have look elsewhere for their fix of mid-year gaming news.

One of those places gamers will be looking to is the Summer Game Fest hosted and produced by stalwart Geoff Keighley. Given that E3 isn’t happening, Summer Game Fest will be the first port of call for many viewers on Thursday as its developer/publisher agnostic.

However, Keighley has also tempered expectations for what is to come during this week’s event. Speaking in a Twitter Spaces chat this week, the event host tempered expectations.

“What I would say is that a lot of the games we’re going to show you are going to be [already] announced… games are going to show new content to you, like some of the ones I’ve mentioned,” said Keighley.

“We’ve got a couple of new game announcements in the show and hopefully some surprises if everything holds. But it definitely is a show that’s primarily focused on stuff that is announced,” he added.

Among the titles Keighley mentioned would be receiving air time during Summer Game Fest is survival horror The Callisto Protocol which looks mad.

If you’re getting Dead Space vibes from this that’s because it comes from the creator of that game – Glen Schofield – and their new studio Striking Distance Studios.

Other highlights Keighley teased are news about Gotham Knights, the Cuphead DLC, The Delicious Last Course and a full level playthrough of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Oh and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be stopping by perhaps he’ll bring Tech N9ne along for a performance.

Frankly, we’re fine with hearing news about titles that have already been announced especially if we get release dates for those titles.

Summer Game Fest goes live on 9th June at 19:45 and you can tune in via YouTube here.

The next big ticket event during this would-be E3 time is Microsoft and Bethesda’s Showcase which takes place on Sunday evening. On the same day the PC Gaming Show will take place and finally Capcom’s showcase is scheduled for 13th June.

Thankfully, E3 should return in 2023 but for now, at least we have Keighley to get us excited for the next year in gaming.
