Discord Voice Chat now available to Xbox Insiders on console

Regardless of where your gaming allegiances lie, you simply cannot fault the way Xbox has been going about integrating different ecosystems for its platforms of late. The latest case in point is the rollout of Discord Voice Chat to selected Xbox Insiders.

Xbox says the roll out kicks off today and should reach the larger Xbox Insider community in the coming weeks. When non-Insiders will get a chance to use the addition, remains to be seen, so this is exclusive for now.

“Discord Voice chat is coming to your Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. You will be able to chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from your console making it easy to connect with friends across mobile, Xbox, and PC. The update will start rolling out to Xbox Insiders today and will be available soon for everyone,” the company explained in a Wire blog post.

“While you are playing on your console, you will be able to see who is in the call and speaking. You’ll also be able to adjust the sound, and switch between Discord Voice and Xbox game chat,” it adds.

If you are one of the lucky chosen Insiders, you will be able to access the new Discord Voice Chat by hitting the Xbox button on your console, then going to Parties & chats and clicking Try Discord Voice on Xbox.

From there an option to scan a QR code is appear and you will be directed to a page to link your Discord and Xbox apps. This method will also be required if you previously set up a connection between the two, Xbox confirmed.

Once connected you will be able to enter a channel you’d like to talk in using Discord just as you normally would.

You can also read this recently updated FAQ on connecting the apps, should you require assistance.
