MultiVersus has spent less than 24 hours in open beta, finally opening up the game to anyone who wants to try it, and it has pulled in a decent number of players in that limited time.

We know this thanks to Valve and the relatively open nature of the Steam platform. The Steam & Game Stats section of the website gives us the current number of players and peak for the past day.

In the table at the bottom of this story you can see the top 20 games on that page at the time of publication. The list is ordered by Valve by the current number of players which, for MultiVersus, is only 75 487.

The more impressive number is the peak player count which is 144 456 and, by that metric, it should be higher up on the list going head to head with bigger and more established games like Monster Hunter Rise, Team Fortress 2 and Ark: Survival Evolved.

For those out of the loop MultiVersus is an attempt by Warner Bros. to create a game like Super Smash Bros. by taking many of its popular characters and putting them in a platform fighting game.

This multiverse approach to game making is why you can see Batman driving the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine in the header image above, with this used as a poster to announce the opening of the beta recently.

Up until now MultiVersus has gone through several closed stages of testing with various ways to access it, but now that anyone can get in it will be interesting to see if the 144 456 can be increased.
