Shoprite Group opens up applications for 2023 bursaries

The Shoprite Group has announced that its 2023 Bursary Programme is now accepting applications for the upcoming academic year.

The company is specifically looking to support top performing learners currently enrolled for degrees in Accounting, Information Technology, UI Design, Food Science and more.

“Every year the Group supports on average 300 students, at an investment of more than R17 million, with bursaries which cover tuition fees and on-campus accommodation. Bursary holders also have access to Shoprite’s employee wellness programme which includes access to medical advice, counselling services, financial coaching, legal advice and more,” it explained in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“With staggering youth unemployment levels, the Shoprite Group’s bursary programme gives highly motivated and ambitious students the best possible start to their careers. We are looking to invest in youth that want to grow and develop into the future leaders of our industry,” adds Lungile Koti, senior Early Careers Talent specialist.

The Shoprite Group says registered university students with a 65 percent aggregate or higher are encouraged to apply for its bursary programme by visiting the Bursary portal here, as well as its and Graduate Opportunities found here, by 31st August 2022.

Bursaries will be offered to eligible students in the following fields and years of study:

  • Accounting (2nd, 3rd and 4th year) 
  • Ecommerce: UI Design (2nd and 3rd year) 
  • Food Sciences (2nd, 3rd and 4th year) 
  • Information Technology (2nd and 3rd year) 
  • Logistics and Supply Chain (3rd and 4th year) 
  • Pharmacy (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year) 
  • Retail Business Management (1st, 2nd and 3rd year).
