The latest real person, John Cena, arrives in Fortnite tomorrow

While Fortnite is famous for crossing over with every franchise out there, it also routinely crosses over with the real world and the latest example of that is John Cena.

Epic Games has announced that the wrestler and actor will arrive in the game in the form of various cosmetics tomorrow, 28th July.

It has even done this with a bit of a joke releasing the screenshot above to show the cosmetics off. There’s of course nothing there because you can’t see him.

“No, the Outfit doesn’t actually have an invisibility feature, but it will have matching accessories available! Also coming to the Item Shop are more items from the John Cena Set: the WWE Championship Title Back Bling (included with the Outfit), the open-hand Five Digit Slapper Pickaxe, and the U Can’t C Me Emote (pictured [below] … if you can see it.),” the announcement reads.

The two outfits are called Entrance Gear and Ring Gear but it’s basically the same thing plus or minus a T-shirt.

John Cena joins many other real people in the game including big names like Ariana Grande and J. Balvin. That doesn’t include countless more celebrities in Fortnite as fictional characters they play like fellow wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as The Foundation or Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides.

While we’ll never bemoan optional extra content in games like this we have to wonder how long it will be before every thing you can think of appears in Fortnite in some form. We wouldn’t be surprised if these highly-managed crossovers are eventually replaced with community-made content so that users can put whoever they want in the game.
