Last week the news came out that Earth Defence Force 5 had passed the one million sold threshold, but for some reason, this news was only made from the Japanese arm of the franchise.
Today we finally have this announcement in English too, along with a contest to win copies of the game.
The English announcement comes to us from the @EDF_OFFICIAL_EN Twitter account. While it’s not verified yet it is the account that is linked to from the official Earth Defence Force website when you choose to display it in English.
“We are pleased to announce that Earth Defense Force 5 has sold over 1,000,000 units worldwide!!! ???????????? We would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to every person that has supported Earth Defense Force. Thank you for playing our game!????” the announcement reads, emojis and all.
Interestingly even the image made for the Japanese announcement has been re-uploaded with English text, which you can see in the header image above.
For those who have not been part of the one million players so far, the news also comes with a small contest as five Steam keys are being given away by the aforementioned @EDF_OFFICIAL_EN account.
