Fornite x Dragon Ball may be the biggest crossover yet

After years of crossovers the one big franchise Fortnite hadn’t partnered with yet was Dragon Ball and that changes today as Epic Games reveals the latest event is centred around Goku and friends.

Unlike some past crossovers that were just some skins, Fortnite x Dragon Ball is so much more and may be the biggest of its kind based on sheer content alone that will be rolled out over the next two months.

First of all, as the anime is arguably the most popular part of the series, you can actually watch select Dragon Ball Super episodes inside of Fortnite.

Between now and 17th September, players can head to a cruise ship of all things inside of the game. There they can watch the following episodes of the anime: 09, 10, 11, 13, 81 and 98. We have no idea why this smattering of episodes was chosen, but that’s what is on offer.

As for actually playing the game there’s lots to do starting with a new tab in the UI called “Power Unleashed”. Click on it to work through various challenges to unlock cosmetics and collect all seven of the Dragon Balls to get a glider based on Shenron.

There’s even more to play in the form of the Versus Boards (a replacement for Bounty Boards), Kamehameha and Nimbus Cloud powerups in the Battle Royale, a mission to find Bulma and the Tournament of Power which launches on 18th August and forms part of the Competitive playlist.

As you can see in the trailer above there’s an entire new map to explore called “Dragon Ball Adventure Island” which will become available on 19th August.

“Explore inspired by iconic locations from Dragon Ball. Soar through a ring course on a Nimbus Cloud (Kintoun) at Kami’s Palace, prepare food at Goku’s House, and traverse an obstacle course at the Room of Spirit & Time. These are just some of the challenges you will face on your mission to collect the Dragon Balls. When you’re ready, test your power in an open player-vs-player battle arena ‘Tenkaichi Budokai,’ or just continue to explore!” the announcement reads.

Finally there’s the item shop which is awash with Dragon Ball content. Goku, Vegeta, Bulma and Beerus all have their own skins along with several more not attributed to any one character. That’s a lot to spend on your money on so pick wisely if you’re so inclined.

The full announcement with the nitty gritty of the crossover can be found on the official Fortnite website here. Those who want to compete in the Tournament of Power should especially read its section for more details.
