How to get into the Steam Mobile App beta

Valve is finally updating the Steam Mobile App and a new beta allows anyone in the public to participate.

“Today we’re starting a limited beta of the updated Steam Mobile App. We’ve rebuilt the app on a new framework and modernized the design. (2015 called and wanted their app back.) You’ll still be able to browse the store, get Steam Guard codes, and confirm trades, but now the app comes with QR code sign in, smarter notifications, an improved Library, and multi account support,” reads the announcement.

Those who would like to participate need to join this Steam group and then follow the instructions below:

Android

iOS

  • “Open this link on your iOS device: https://testflight.apple.com/join/8BOPXsGz
  • You’ll be prompted to install Apple’s own TestFlight app. Once TestFlight is installed, it will automatically install the updated Steam Mobile App.
  • Please note: per Apple guidelines, iOS beta participants will be limited to 10,000 and those slots will fill up quickly. We’ll add more slots as the beta progresses, so check back if slots are full.”

If either platform is full when you try to join, fret not as Valve is increasing the amount of people included as time goes on.

Those who do make it in to kick the tyres, it’s asked that feedback is provided in the aforementioned Steam group. Looking through comments there and on places like Reddit, and things seem to be generally positive even if the app still needs some work.

Hopefully, going into the future, the app will receive constant updates that keep it as fresh as the Steam Client for desktop.
