HP debuts Folio version of its Dragonfly and new 34″ AIO PC

Over the coming days HP will be hosting its Amplify 2022 Executive Forum which will focus on some the bigger projects and partner initiatives that the company will be pursuing over the coming months and years.

While the event is very much aimed at the C-Suite, it has also seen some new premium enterprise hardware being unveiled, with the leading device being a Folio version of HP’s Dragonfly notebook.

The HP Dragonfly Folio G3 as it is christened is the company’s first convertible notebook take on this particular series and is specifically aimed at enabling hybrid work, according to the company.

“With a pull-forward design that seamlessly transitions from laptop to tablet, the HP Dragonfly Folio G3 empowers collaborative thinkers to create, capture, and share ideas whenever they strike,” a press release from HP explains.

Marketing jargon aside, the upshot of this new convertible notebook is its ability to be posed in three main modes – notebook, display and tablet (seen in the header image).

On paper the Dragonfly Folio is fairly powerful too, sporting up to an Intel 12th Gen processor (i5 or i7) as part of the vPro platform, as well as up to 32GB LPDDR5 and up to 2TB of storage.

The 1.4kg and ultra thin Dragonfly Folio also necessitated a new cooling system from HP, with a choice of FullHD LCD or a 3000×2000 OLED display added to the mix, along with an option to support 5G too.

Hopefully all of the higher specced component options will be made available in SA, but local pricing and availability are still in the offing. That said, HP states that pricing for the new Dragonfly Folio will start at $2 379 now for those Stateside.

Looking at the other devices showcased by HP, a new 34″ All-In-One Desktop PC has joined the company’s lineup that features a sumptuous 5K (5120×2160) display. It features the same processor options as the Dragonfly, but does have an i9 option depending on region.

Other notable elements include either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 or 3060 graphics cards, as well as up to 128GB of RAM, 4TB of SSD storage and a detachable magnetic webcam. Starting at $2 199, this pricey 34″ AIO PC should get loyal iMac users thinking twice about their current setup.

These two devices are joined by a new 32″ monitor that is a part of HP’s Z workstation lineup, with the Z32k G3 4K USB-C Display offering 4K visuals and supporting 98 percent of the P3 colour range. This monitor is expected in selected markets in November, which is when pricing will be revealed.

Last of the devices is a 4K webcam called the 965 4K Streaming Webcam. As the name suggests it supports webcam video in 4K, clips onto the top of monitors, features sound reduction and has a dual microphone internal array. This peripheral will retail for a recommended $199.

We will need to wait to hear from HP South Africa regarding local availability and pricing for al the newly announced devices.
