Snapchat+ getting new features after gaining 1 million users globally

In June this year Snap Inc. announced a paid tier of its social media platform called Snapchat+ for $3.99 a month. At the time it was unclear whether enough people would be interested in a paid version of the platform, but it looks like there is indeed interest.

To that end Snap Inc. says it has amassed more than one million users globally in less than two months, with the paid tier also raking in a cool $7.3 million in in-app revenue over a period of 30 days, according to TechCrunch.

This milestone has also resulted in some new features being added to the mix for Snapchat+.

To that end it is getting four new features in particular aimed at customising the experience – Priority Story Replies, Post View Emoji, Bitmoji Backgrounds and Custom App Icons.

Running through what each of these new features offer, the priority story replies will highlight your replies to be more visible to “Snap Stars”.

Next post view emoji allows you to select an emoji to sign off your snaps and bitmoji backgrounds allows you to create a custom background for your virtual in-app avatar.

Lastly, custom app icons lets you create new background on your home screen app, with the white ghost still remaining.

While none of these features are revolutionary by any stretch, they are being added to a platform that is garnering more interest than some similar offerings that started as free, but have since pivoted to a subscription tier like Twitter Blue, which is still to find a sizeable community and some must-have tools.

There is also the fact that Snapchat+, while available in multiple territories across the globe, is still not rolled out to countries like South Africa.

For now though, you can subscribe to it in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, India, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Finland and Austria, if you are so inclined.
