It was a good run, but just when we had forgotten about loadshedding, Eskom has returned to remind us of the fact that is it part and parcel of living in South Africa.
To that end, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 this afternoon, until 22:00 in the evening. Stage 2 will remain in effect for much of the rest of the week, with it starting at 5:00 in the morning until 22:00 in the evening.
This will last until Saturday evening, the power utility confirmed in a Power Alert tweeted out from its official account a short while ago.
The reason for this latest bout of loadshedding is the result of breakdowns at five different power stations, according to Eskom. Added to this is delays in the return to service of other stations, which has put a severe constraint on the generating capacity of Eskom.
It is an all too familiar story from the power utility, with it also asking citizens to be sparring with their power usage at times when electricity is available. It has also warned that should the power stations not return in a timely manner, or more capacity is lost, we could see more loadshedding.
As always we advise downloading the EskomSePush app to stay up to date with any happenings.
