Street Fighter 6 announces closed beta with crossplay

While many full priced and fully released multiplayer games are still not offering crossplay, Street Fighter 6 is setting itself apart by having this feature right in a recently-announced upcoming closed beta.

This will take place across PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S between 7th and 10th October.

Those worried about not having enough to do like in some betas should put those fears aside as, by all accounts, there seems to be a lot packed in with the following available:

“The aim of the closed beta test is for us to monitor the play experience of participants, identify any potential issues, and then address them in order to improve the quality of the game,” the announcement reads.

“As such, it is possible that errors may occur during the test that cause the game to freeze or close during gameplay. The test sessions will use a version of the game still in development. As a result, we cannot guarantee a smooth gameplay experience. Please bear all of this in mind when taking part in the test.”

So, how do you get into this closed beta? The process starts on this application page which first requires logging into, or creating a Capcom ID account. More information can also be found on the dedicated website for the beta.

Those who are chosen to participate will also be asked to fill out a survey afterwards to report on their experience.

Lastly there’s this exceedingly weird trailer created to announce all of this. Maybe there’s some deep Street Fighter 6 lore we’re not aware of involving multiple characters wearing a box on their heads doing a synchronised dance routine.
