• Globally, TCL is the second ranked LCD TV brand, holding the top position in several markets.
• It has launched five new smart TVs in South Africa, with the new lineup featuring Mini LED, QLED and 4K TVs.

This week TCL introduced five new smart TVs to its local lineup. The new TVs all support Google, with TCL noting that it is one of the first brands to introduce Google TVs in the country.

As for the TVs themselves, they are the C835, C735, C635, P735 and P635. In the lineup there are few different display technologies on offer, ranging from 4K and QLED, all the way up to Mini LED. The latter display technology features on the flagship offering in this latest lineup – the C835.

TCL also claims that this model is the first in South Africa to tout Mini LED technology, which offer hundreds of dimming zones for precise deep contrast and high brightness.

Added to this is support for 144Hz variable refresh rate (VRR). This according to the manufacturer, yields faster responsiveness, sharper imagery, and better visuals for gaming and sports. Other notable features on the flagship C835 include IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision IQ and Atmos Support, along with HDR 10+.

With TCL currently sitting second globally in terms of TCL TV sales, the company is now looking to expand its presence in South Africa and add it to the list of regions it has sizeable market share.

“The timing of our launch couldn’t be more perfect as additional on the ground sales outlets for our products have also been secured,” noted TCL South Africa’s marketing manager, Ryan Curling, in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Not only are some of these TV’s capable of achieving a 144Hz refresh rate, enabling a smooth and silky picture, no matter the application, but all the new products will feature Google TV and Google Voice Search activated commands and Google Duo video conferencing,” he concluded.
