Bolt Food now available in the South of Joburg

  • With food delivery services now an everyday part of life following a boom during the pandemic, companies like Bolt Food are investing in expansion locally.
  • The latest move sees the company offer food delivery services in the Southern suburbs of Johannesburg.
  • The platform has signed up a myriad of restaurants, from established franchises to smaller operations.

Much like ecommerce, the pandemic saw a boom when it came to food delivery services. The likes of Uber Eats and Mr D became the go-to for many South Africans unable to travel outside their homes as a result of lockdown restrictions.

With said restrictions easing, the convenience of ordering via online platforms has not gone away, and now Bolt Food has announced that it is expanding to offer its services to the Southern suburbs of Johannesburg.

The announcement comes a little more than one year after Bolt Food confirmed that it was available in Johannesburg, with more than 300 restaurants added to the mix at the time.

The platform has worked to bring many established franchises to its platform in particular.

“To date, Bolt Food has signed up restaurants such as Simply Asia, Golden Falcon Spur Steak Ranch and Burger King, including local favourites such as Afro-Kulca Lounge and RibShack Rocofellas Southgate,” it noted in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Expanding to the South of Johannesburg has always been on the cards for us. We are really excited to make food delivery available to the customers in the area – many of whom are already using our ride-hailing service,” added country manager for Bolt Food, Tafadzwa Samushonga.

The app is available for download via the Google Play Store here, and the Apple App Store here.
