Gran Turismo creator “considering” PC port for the racing sim

  • Over the past couple of years, PlayStation has loosed the shackles on its console exclusives, porting a handful of titles to PC.
  • With plans in place to ramp up the rollout of exclusives to PC, now Gran Turismo could be getting a port.
  • This as its creator recently shared his thoughts in an interview, saying it has not out of the question.

PlayStation has traditionally shackled its exclusive titles to consoles, but in recent years that has changed, with a handful of titles making their way to PC, albeit a few years after the initial release. The company has made it known that we could see more PC releases of PlayStation exclusives and while many are baying for Bloodborne, it could be Gran Turismo that soon gets a port.

This as Gran Turismo creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, was recently interviewed by GTPlanet. While much of the focus was on the World Finals event that was happening over the past weekend, the prospect of a port of the game also came up, with Yamauchi stating that it was not out of the question.

More specifically the creator of the realistic driving simulator noted that the team at developer Polyphony Digital was “looking into” port of the game.

He also added that making a PC version would be no mean feat, as he wants to ensure that the same fidelity and visual quality exists across all platforms if he were to get a port developed.

“Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title,” he told GTPlanet. “It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it,” he added. As EuroGamer points out, here Yamauchi is highlighting the fact that the game would need to run seamlessly on 4K at 60fps.

If a title were to be ported, it would likely be Gran Turismo 7, which we reviewed and enjoyed in the early months of this year. With PlayStation normally waiting two to three years before porting an exclusive to PC, it may be awhile until we get to see one for the latest iteration in the Polyphony franchise.

With a movie also in the works, perhaps there is an opportunity to tie in there as well.

While we await further news, take a gander at the new Vision GT concept car that Ferrari recently created for GT 7 in the video below.
