Kyalami 9-Hour returning next year from 23rd to 25th February

  • Organisers have confirmed the dates, as well as some of what is planned for next year’s Kyalami 9-Hour motoring event.
  • It is back for three days, with tickets on sale and Black Friday discounts available later this month.
  • Revived in 2019, the Kyalami 9-Hour is set to become a fixture once again on the local motorsports calendar.

Back in 2019, local motorsports enthusiasts, organisers and promoters decided to revive the Kyalami 9-Hour (K9H) event as a way to showcase motoring in the country and make the Midrand-based racetrack a fixture on the racing calendar once more.

Those efforts are continuing, as organisers have confirmed the details for next year’s Kyalami 9-Hour. This as the event is scheduled for 23rd to 25th February 2023, with promises of three days of motorsport being made.

“We are grateful to all our event partners and race fans for sticking with us through these challenging times. The 9 Hour is back in early 2023! We are going all out – a true fest of motoring, bigger international grid, more national team participation and greater support race participation,” noted Adam Brown, K9H CEO, in a press release.

“The access for race fans has been extended to include Thursday making the event a three-day experience which includes the 9 Hour night practice session and qualifying, support race practice and qualifying, motor industry activations, historic race car displays and demonstrations, e-sport competitions, hot laps, music, food and beer gardens,” he added.

Details on tickets for the event have also been shared, with those interested in attending capable of purchasing on each individual day, or for all three days. There are also some Black Friday discounts on the way, with all ticket sales accessible later this week.

 Ticket pricing is as follows:

  • Thursday 23rd February – R250,
  • Friday 24th February – R350,
  • Saturday 25th February – R550,
  • Three-day ticket – R1 000.

Black Friday tickets are as follows (available on 25th November only):

  • Saturday – R465,
  • Three-day ticket – R850.

With more local events opening up in recent months, there will no doubt be interest in this one next year.

“We are extremely excited to announce a full Support Race programme for the Kyalami 9 Hour race, with six categories announced including three National Championship Series. With a total Support Race entry exceeding 200 competitors race fans can look forward to an entertaining three days of motorsport and Historic Race Car demonstrations,” enthused Denis Klopper, K9H Race and Track Activations manager.

When ticket sales open up later this week, you can head to the 9-Hour website here.
