Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 100 singles dominated by Taylor Swift

  • Singles from Taylor Swift’s 10th album Midnights have set a new record in the US.
  • The first single Anti-Hero has been streamed 59.7 million times since its release.
  • Swift has dislodged Drake as the artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 tracks at one time.

Every once in a while a story unfolds that one can’t help but pay attention to.

Toward the end of October Taylor Swift released Midnights and the singer’s fanbase quickly became obsessed. So obsessed that Swift now currently occupies every single position in the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100.

Not only is Swift the first musician to accomplish a clean sweep of the Top 10, but she also dislodges Drake who previously held the record with nine spots in the Top 10.

The top track from Swift is currently the first single Anti-Hero. This track has been streamed 59.7 million times and sold 13 500 copies according to Billboard. At the other end of the Top 10 is Vigilante Shit which has been streamed 32.2 million times and sold 6 400 copies.

Of course, Swift gave herself the best chance of this happening with a staggered and coordinated release of singles, various versions of Midnights and variant album covers being made available. It was a great marketing strategy that was clearly well planned as you can see in this release schedule detailed by Elle.

Unfortunately for Swift, she can’t replicate this success in the UK. Following Ed Sheeran’s domination of the Billboard Hot 100 in the UK, rules were introduced that only the three most popular tracks on an album can enter the chart. This happened in 2017 when 16 of the tracks from ÷ entered the Top 20 The Guardian reported.

Following this roaring success, Swift is now in second place when it comes to the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 tracks with 40. In first place is Drake with 59.

While not related to Billboard, Swift’s chorus for Anti-Hero has found success on TikTok as well. The oddly relatable line of “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me” has been used in 145.4 thousand videos as of time of writing. There are also a number of artists covering the track over on TikTok, our favourite is embedded below.
