Vodacom Business partners with CybSafe in drive to make cybersecurity education accessible

  • Vodacom Business has partnered with London-based cybersecurity firm CybSafe.
  • The partnership brings with it a mobile app for Vodacom Business customers.
  • This app will allow businesses to educate employees about digital risks in a convenient manner with metrics to help inform progress.

While every effort can be made to implement cybersecurity safeguards, one slip-up from a human can undo all of these.

Social engineering, phishing and other attacks that exploit the flaws we humans have can be a disaster for a business. It doesn’t help the situation that bad actors are becoming more brazen and creative in their attacks.

For this reason, cybersecurity education is incredibly important. To that end, Vodacom Business has announced a new partnership that it hopes will make cybersecurity education more accessible.

That partnership is with CybSafe. This London-based firm offers cybersecurity training courses that go above traditional security awareness and training.

The courses on offer are developed by experts in cybercrime, psychology and cybersecurity.

This partnership with Vodacom Business sees the launch of a mobile app that can be used to target, measure and encourage change in a number of security behaviours. This should help more businesses as they can make use of this easy-to-use app rather than trying to get employees to sit through an hours-long in-person presentation.

As Vodacom Business points out, this sort of training could be rather effective with the Protection of Personal Information Act (PoPIA) in place.

The act states, among other things, that a company must be able to show it took preventative measures in the event of a breach. Being able to show that your employees have undergone extensive training with metrics to back this up could prove vital in the event of an incident.

“Our new partnership with Vodacom Business will provide organisations in South Africa with access to CybSafe. This will help organisations reduce risk and improve people’s security behaviours. Unlike other platforms, CybSafe works to change people’s behaviour, turning employees into an organisation’s greatest defence – while empowering them with the knowledge and skills to detect and spot attacks before they cause harm. We are delighted to be a strategic partner for Vodacom Business,” found and chief executive officer at Cybsafe, Oz Alashe said in a statement.

Unfortunately Vodacom Business hasn’t provided more details as regards the cost of this application and instead directs interested parties to send an email to cybsafe[at]vodacom[dot]co[dot]za.
