Samsung confirms first Galaxy Unpacked of 2023 for 1st February

  • Earlier this week reports suggested Samsung was planning to host its first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year on 1st February.
  • Now the South Korean company has indeed confirmed that the event is happening at the beginning of next month.
  • The Galaxy S23 series is expected to be the headlining device, with a new triple camera array also being teased.

For the past decade now, in the world of mobile devices, Samsung has routinely been the first to showcase its latest Galaxy flagship phones. 2023 looks to be no different, as the South Korean company has confirmed that it will host a Galaxy Unpacked event on 1st February.

This follows reports earlier in the week suggesting Samsung was planning to reveal its new Galaxy S23 series of devices, as the company looks to get well ahead of its Android-powered competition, which will likely be saving their reveals for Mobile World Congress 2023 in late February/early March.

Back to the Galaxy Unpacked event and it is being hosted in San Francisco, which means those residing in South Africa will be able to tune into a live stream on Samsung’s YouTube channel at 20:00 local time.

As for what the S23 series will be sporting, Samsung will probably pack in as many of the leading components currently available for this latest lineup of flagship phones. This means we should see a new Exynos processor to match the performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (available in selected regions).

Added to this are hints that a new camera array will be present, with Samsung teasing a new trio coming to the fore. It is unclear if this will be available across the lineup, but we should the Ultra model packing the biggest punch in terms of lenses, with a massive 200MP option being touted.

It will also be interesting to see whether satellite messaging will feature, as Apple announced it last year with the iPhone 14, and more recently Qualcomm has looked to make the technology available on selected devices.

All that said, however, we may not have to wait until 1st February, as leaks are part and parcel in the lead up to a Galaxy Unpacked event.
