Snowpiercer is the latest derailment from Warner Bros. Discovery

  • TNT will not air the fourth and final season of Snowpiercer.
  • The production house is currently shopping around for a new home for the post-apocalyptic show.
  • Snowpiercer is the latest casualty in Warner Bros. Discovery’s push to cut costs.

The third season of Snowpiercer closed of on a cliff-hanger and now the fate of the post-apocalyptic train-ride is in question.

Based on the 2013 film of the same name directed by Bong Joon-ho, Snowpiercer tracks the journey of Mr. Wilford’s 1 000-car train as its occupants try to navigate a world that has been frozen over. The series was the property of TNT which is part of Warner Bros. Discovery.

At the weekend Deadline reported that Snowpiercer’s fourth and final season would not run on TNT.

“We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of Snowpiercer,” a TNT spokesperson told Deadline.

“This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer’s extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects,” the spokesperson added.

What is unclear is how far into production this final season of the show was, if it was even in process of filming or writing. Tomorrow Studios – which is behind the show – appears to be shopping around for a new home though. The series is available on Netflix so perhaps the streaming giant will pick the show up for one final season as it did with Manifest. With that having been said, Netflix has it’s own set of content woes so we’re not holding out too much hope here.

We also don’t think Netflix is the right home for this series as according to Digital Spy, Tomorrow Studios hopes to expand the world of Snowpiercer.

“We love Snowpiercer and believe season 4 completes a story with incredible talent that will entertain viewers while exploring issues of climate change and class warfare,” a spokesperson for the studio said.

“We are so passionate about this series that we have acquired the rights to control the franchise. We hope to find the perfect partner shortly and finish a great ride with the final season,” they added.

That final season was said to feature Clark Gregg who you may know as Agent Coulson from Agents of SHIELD and Avengers fame.

We’re going to have to get used to the idea that we may never find out if New Eden was ever a reality or just a fever dream.

Season 4 of Snowpiercer began production just as the third season aired so it’s unclear how far along into filming the final season of the series was.
