UPDATED: Anker Innovations appoints local distributor to grow its brands

  • Premium Brand Distributors and Anker Innovations have announced a new agreement.
  • This will see the growth of the eufy and Anker PowerHouse brands in South Africa.
  • The Anker PowerHouse may prove rather popular locally given the constant loadshedding South Africa experiences.

For companies offering backup power solutions, South Africa is a prime market to be in right now given pervasive and persistent loadshedding.

To that end, Anker Innovations has appointed Premium Brand Distributors to be its official partner in South Africa. Under the agreement, the distributor will be responsible for the growth of two brands from the wider eufy brand name as well as the Anker PowerHouse.

“Expanding the presence of eufy Security, eufy Appliances and Anker PowerHouse in South Africa and throughout the continent is one of our top priorities and Premium Brand Distributors is the ideal partner to help us achieve that goal,” general manager for Anker Innovations Middle East, Africa and South Asia, Faraz Mehdi said in a press statement sent to Hypertext.

“With their experience, drive, and reach throughout the Sub-Saharan region, we’re excited for the accelerated growth with this partnership,” adds Mehdi.

The two eufy brands in question are eufy Appliances and eufy Security. The latter features a range of cameras, floodlights, video doorbells and more while the former features a range of manual and robotic vacuum cleaners.

The portable Anker PowerHouse is the product which has our attention. These backup power solutions can offer up to 2 048Wh of backup power and an output of up to 2 400W. These solutions can be charged in two and a half hours from mains and up to 1.4 hours using solar panels. It’s unclear whether solar panels will be sold with the PowerHouse. We have asked Anker Innovations and will update this story when we receive more information.

Update

We have received word from Anker Innovations that Anker Solar Panels are part of the agreement with Premium Brands Distribution. Availability is currently targeted for the second quarter of this financial year.

From left, Grant Norton, CEO, Premium Brand Distributors; Stefan Van Der Walt, Group Chairman, Premium Holdings; Ben Zhang, Partner, Board Member and Senior Vice-President at Anker Innovations LTD. And Faraz Mehdi, General Manager – MEA & South Asia at Anker Innovations LTD.

Premium Brand Distributors’ chief executive officer, Grant Norton said the agreement was central to the firm’s channel strategy.

“We are consistently working towards enhancing our offerings by complementing our brand portfolio with world-renowned brands and manufacturers. Anker has an incredible history and continues to achieve remarkable growth. There is no question that they are successfully challenging the home appliance and home entertainment industries, quarter after quarter and is therefore the partnership that has drawn our attention, interest and investment,” said Norton.

With loadshedding set to continue and many South Africans turning to back-up power systems and renewable energy, this agreement may be rather successful for both Anker Innovations and Premium Brand Distributors.
