• Local distributor for GIZZU products, Syntech, has issued a press release regarding a recall for two models of its portable power stations.
• A small number of customers have reported overheating of the units, warranting a voluntary recall of a specific batch of portable power stations by the distributor.
• It has made an online query checker tool available to those wanting to make use of the voluntary recall.

This afternoon we received a press release from local distributor of GIZZU energy products, Syntech, confirming that a voluntary recall has been issued on two specific models of its portable power stations.

Namely the GPS300 and GPS500 portable power stations, after the distributor received a handful of reports from customers about overheating of devices while charging. After launch an investigation into the incidents, to its credit, Syntech has acted quickly in issuing a voluntary recall.

The distributor’s investigation found a temporary battery manufacturing flaw that may have affected a small number of units in one particular batch of these models. More specifically units produced between 1st November and 31st December 2022. 

“To resolve the matter, Syntech has engaged its relevant retail and distribution partners to stop the sale of this limited batch of products. This will allow the company to retrieve, test, and replace any affected units in this batch,” the company explained in its release.

Here Syntech has developed a dedicated online tool to help consumers determine if their unit is impacted. Consumers who have purchased either a GPS300 and GPS500 portable power station are advised to visit the company’s online query checker here.

Visitors will be prompted to enter the serial number of the unit to determine if it is affected. If it is, the site will provide guidance on how to proceed safely, and how to obtain a replacement or refund.  

“The safety of our consumers is, and always has been, our first priority. Even though this issue only affects a very small number of units in a particular batch manufactured in the last two months of 2022, we want to be absolutely sure that there is no safety risk for any of our consumers. As a responsible distributor, voluntarily recalling this batch is the right thing to do,” emphasised Ryan Martyn, director and co-founder of Syntech Distribution.

“While we know this is an inconvenience for both consumers and our retail partners, for which we are truly sorry, the good news is that the manufacturing flaw has been rectified and we will be receiving new stock soon. We know how important it is to keep the electricity flowing, so we will do everything in our power to replace affected portable power stations as soon as possible,” he added.

Syntech concludes its release by noting that the aforementioned manufacturing flaw has since been addressed and fixed, with new stock expected shortly.
