  • Huawei has opened up its global XMAGE Awards 2023 for entries.
  • This year’s competition focuses on a handful of categories – Night Walk, Portrait, Art & Fashion, Outdoor, Hello Life, Storyboard, Action, and Storytelling.
  • The closing date for entries is 15th August 2023.

Earlier this month Huawei got its global XMAGE Awards 2023 up and running. The company is using the event to award both budding and professional photographers for their skills, as well as highlighting the capabilities of Huawei devices and the images/videos that they are able to capture.

Entries for this year’s iteration of the event are now open, with the closing date set for 15th August 2023.

This competition has existed since 2017, with Huawei noting that users from more than 170 countries have participated in the past and contributed nearly four million entries to date.

For the XMAGE Awards 2023, the following categories have been outlined – Night Walk, Portrait, Art & Fashion, Outdoor, Hello Life, Storyboard, Action and Storytelling.

“Night Walk is a new category, encouraging users to photograph the hidden wonders of nightlife, using Huawei’s unique night-photo settings,” the company explains in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“This year, the following prizes will be given out to outstanding submissions: 3 Grand Prize winners, 24 Best-in-Category winners, 27 Runner-up winners, and 5 Honourable Mentions. Winners can receive up to USD 10,000 in prize money,” it adds.

Users can visit the unified global submission channel here for their submission, as well as submit their entry via Huawei Community portal. Rules state that entries must be images or videos captured with a Huawei smartphone, but there are no restrictions on when the work was captured or which Huawei smartphone was used to capture them.
