htxt.africast – An insider view of portable power solutions in SA

THIS WEEK’S AFRICAST IS PROUDLY SPONSORED BY SYNTECH.

Stage 6 loadshedding has returned this week, but thankfully so has the latest edition of the africast.

The subject matter for the main portion of this podcast is rather fitting, as we chat to Craig Nowitz and Ryan Martyn CEO and director respectively at local technology distributor Syntech about its GIZZU portable power solutions. They share their knowledge around different solutions for the home, proper care and maintenance, as well as how to maintain maximum comfort while the lights are out.

Before we delve into that, however, it’s the usual news roundup. Keeping with the energy trend we discuss the Gauteng Premier’s plan to address power issues by building more solar panels and installing them throughout the province. In order to do so, he wants to train as many as 6 000 local youth in solar panel installation.

Next is the current writer’s strike in the US. While this is not happening on our shores, it will have an impact locally given the abundance of streaming platforms that are enjoyed in SA. That content requires skilled writers in order to happen, so we could see another dearth of quality shows to stream as a result of the strike, as was the case in 2007.

Lastly we stay in Hollywood, or rather the desert planet Arrakis, as the first full trailer for Dune: Part Two was released. The film is set to hit cinemas on 3rd November, and the visuals from the trailer have already whet our appetite. We also see Paul Atreides ride a sand worm as he continues to rise through the ranks of the Fremen.
