The Way of Water comes to Disney+ on 7th June

  • Avatar: The Way of Water is slated to land on Disney+ on 7th June.
  • Unsurprisingly, the Avatar sequel was a hit in cinemas, grossing nearly $2.32 billion at the box office.
  • In addition to streaming on Disney+, it can be streamed on Max on 7th June, for regions where the streaming service is available.

This week South Africans with annual Disney+ subscriptions will need to renew, but for those pondering cancellation, the arrival of Avatar: The Way of Water next month, may delay the decision.

The sequel to the highest grossing film in history will be available to stream on Disney+ on 7th June. The film will also be available on Max (formerly HBO Max) on the same date next month, provided you are in a region that makes the streaming platform accessible, which does not include SA at the time of writing.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, The Way of Water has also been a box office hit, having grossed nearly $2.32 billion at the cinemas worldwide since debuting on 16th December last year.

“Nominated for numerous Academy Awards including Best Picture, the film also set a new benchmark for visual effects. Produced by Cameron and his longtime partner Jon Landau, the 20th Century Studios-Lightstorm Entertainment production stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis and Kate Winslet. Joining the illustrious adult cast are talented newcomers Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass and Jack Champion,” highlights Disney in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Avatar: The Way of Water is also available at all digital retailers including Apple TV, Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play and Movies Anywhere,” it added.
