Vivo launches new V27 5G and V27e in South Africa

  • Vivo has launched two premium mid-range phones in South Africa today – the V27 5G and V27e.
  • Both devices are available from local networks, including Vodacom, MTN, and Cell C.
  • Vivo is highlighting the camera performance on both devices specifically, with each featuring a trio of lenses on the rear.

The past few weeks have seen a number of new smartphones land locally, and now Chinese brand Vivo is launching a pair of options in the form of the V27 5G and V27e. These new devices are found in the premium mid-range, and are available to purchase in South Africa from today.

In terms of recommended pricing, the V27 5G carries a price tag of R16 999, while the V27 e is priced at R11 999.

So what is on offer for those prices, and what distinguishes each device from one another.

Starting with displays, while both phones deliver FullHD+ resolutions (2400×1080), the 5G model is slightly larger with a 6.78″ screen compared to V27e’s 6.62″ variant.

Internally there are only a few differences between each phone, however, with 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage available on both, as well as a 4 600mAh battery. The difference is the chipset, with the 5G model powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor and the V27e running a MediaTek Helio G99 offering.

The other key difference is the photographic capabilities, although Vivo says both are impressive in terms of what they deliver. For the 5G flavour, a 50MP primary, 8MP wide-angle, and 2MP macro lenses are found on the rear, and a 50MP selfie lens up front.

“The Aura Light Portrait System in this device provides natural night portraits thanks to its 50MP OIS Ultra-Sensing rear camera, studio-level soft lighting effect, and portrait-enhancing capabilities,” adds Vivo South Africa of the V27 5G in a press release sent to Hypertext.

As for the V27e, it features a larger 64MP primary, 2MP bokeh, and 2MP macro lenses on the back, with a 32MP option pulling duty in the front.

“The 64 MP OIS Ultra-Sensing Camera at the back of the phone offers a longer exposure and increases light intake by six times, producing more stable snapshots and boosting the quality and success rate of images taken in low-light conditions,” highlights Vivo.

Both devices are available to purchase via local networks, including Vodacom, MTN, and Cell C, starting today.
