AWS opens up applications for Global Fintech Accelerator

  • Amazon Web Services has launched its Global Fintech Accelerator which is aimed at supporting fintech founders.
  • AWS is looking to select as many as 150 fintech startups across the globe, focusing specifically on the regions where it has a presence.
  • Selected startups will join a six-week remote program between 18th September and 23rd October.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of a worldwide initiative that will certainly be of interest to budding fintech startups in the form of the Global Fintech Accelerator.

Applications for the Accelerator opened up this week and AWS is looking for as many as 150 fintech startups to be a part of it, explaining that this initiative is, “aimed at supporting fintech founders in bringing smarter financial services solutions to the market by utilizing AI/ML and the cloud.”

“Through our global fintech and financial services teams we help fintech startups access data in a compliant, cost-effective, and scalable way. By launching the AWS Global Fintech Accelerator, we are taking a front seat in the next wave of innovation by accelerating the success of fintech builders from Paris to New York, Buenos Aires to Cape Town, and everywhere in between,” it added.

As for the aforementioned 150 fintech startups, they will be selected from regions where AWS has presence, including North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Selected startups will then join a six-week remote program between 18th September and 23rd October, where they will receive one-on-one business and technical mentorship that will cover topics like funding, scaling, and go-to-market strategies, as well as AWS technical fundamentals, cloud, and AI/ML adoption.

AWS also notes that cohort members will receive a package of tailored benefits, including up to $25 000 in AWS Activate credits. At the end of the six weeks, the top 15 startups in the program will be invited to participate in a Demo Day with a curated list of VCs, financial services institutions, potential customers, and other key market players. On top of this, they will receive up to $75 000 in additional AWS Activate credits.
