Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty set for 26th September 2023 launch

  • CD Projeckt RED has given its Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 a release date of 26th September.
  • The cross-platform DLC sees Keanu Reeves return as Johnny Silverhand, along with Edris Elba as Solomon Reed.
  • The DLC is said to be more mystery and espionage-focused, adding a new area of the city to explore – Dogtown.

Xbox held its not-E3 Games Showcase last night, and among the announcements revealed during the live stream was a release date for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

CD Projeckt RED has been drip feeding us information for the DLC to its 2020 title, and now we know that it is set to release on 26th September 2023.

We hope that the developer is able to stick to the date, but given how marred the original game’s release was with issues, if it needs a bit more time for spit and polish, it may be worth delaying.

To CDPR’s credit, in the years since Cyberpunk 2077 was released, the numerous patches issued for the game have made it a far more enjoyable experience, which makes its failure to launch all the more disappointing.

As for the story for Phantom Liberty, you’ll pick up things as V once again, dealing with the cyberpsychosis as a result of having Johnny Silverhand in your mind. Joining Keanu Reeves as an A-lister for this game is Idris Elda as Solomon Reed, who will be one of your main points of contact for this new DLC.

“PhantomLiberty is an upcoming spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk2077. Return as cyber-enhanced mercenary V and embark on a high-stakes mission of espionage and intrigue to save the NUSA President. In the dangerous district of Dogtown, you must forge alliances within a web of shattered loyalties and sinister political machinations,” reads the description for the official trailer, featured below.

Pre-orders for the DLC are set to go live in the coming days, so we’ll have to see just how much South Africans will need to fork up in order to venture into Night City once more in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
