Here are the PlayStation Plus games for August 2023

  • PlayStation has announced its PS Plus games for August 2023.
  • This month’s crop is headlined by PGA Tour 2023, and rounded out by Media Molecule’s Dreams, and Devolver Digital’s Death’s Door.
  • 31st July will be the final day when you can download the July titles and add them to your library.

Winter is coming to an end and August is around the corner. This means that PlayStation is setting up a new lineup of “free” games coming next month via its PlayStation (PS) Plus subscription service.

The July crop of games was headlined by Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War for the PlayStation 4 and 5. It was joined by Alan Wake Remastered and rounded out by indie title Endling: Extinction is Forever.

August comes with three new games, which may have some golf fans excited, and some other players not so much.

Headlining for PS Plus this month is PGA Tour 2K23, the latest golf sim from sports publisher 2K.

“Take your skills on the PGA Tour and become the next FedExCup Champion as you compete against Tour pros and establish new rivalries. For the first time, play as male and female pros including Tiger Woods, in online and local play,” writes PlayStation in an official blog post.

Player creations are a big deal in this edition of PGA Tour. You can create your own online societies to manage tournaments and seasons or create your own dream course with Course Designer, featuring thousands of customisable objects and cross-platform sharing.

Next up is Dreams, from the good people at Media Molecule – creators of Little Big Planet – where players can try out thousands of player-created games from around the world.

“Dreams gives you the opportunity to unleash your creativity. Bring your ideas to life with innovative, easy-to-use tools, then share them with a global community. Whether you want to create games, music, paintings, animation, sculpture, movies or anything in-between, Dreams is an extraordinary digital playground where anything is possible,” says PlayStation.

Enter Dreams and make your own games, or try the games of others. Check out the trailer to see Media Molecule’s “Play, Create and Share” motto in action. It needs to be seen to be believed.

Rounding out the August titles is Death’s Door, an isometric action game from publisher Devolver Digital.

“Experience a somber yet darkly comedic tale, utilizing melee weapons, arrows, and magic to overcome a fantastic array of beasts and demigods in this isometric action adventure.”

Flashy cartoonish graphics are guaranteed here with Death’s Door, as well as charming little characters and boss fights galore.

You play as a Crow, working as a soul-collecting reaper, and you embark on a quest throughout the underworld. Here you can customise your stats and master a wide range of abilities and upgrades you obtain in your quest.

Finally, PlayStation wants to remind subscribers that 31st July will be the last day you can download the July games for free and add them to your library.
