iPhone 15 could be fastest charging iPhone yet

  • Fresh rumours suggest that the iPhone 15 could support 35W fast charging.
  • This means that the iPhone 15 could charge from zero to 100 percent in around one hour, making it the fastest-charging iPhone to date.
  • If true, the device will still be behind industry standards with Samsung smartphones supporting 45W fast charging, and Huawei devices chugging 66W.

The rumour mill keeps churning ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the iPhone 15, Apple’s latest and greatest smartphone offering. With the device now in mass production, the company is expected to begin selling the iPhone 15 in stores worldwide from 22nd September 2023.

As we wait for that date, we continue to receive information on what upgrades the iPhone 15 is bringing to the table compared to its previous generations. No official word has yet to be given in this regard, but that doesn’t stop official sources from reaching out unofficially.

The latest rumour is that the upcoming device will have faster charging than the iPhone 14. This is according to 9to5Mac, citing “industry sources.”

All rumours should be taken with a grain of salt until official communication confirms them or denies them.

If these sources are to be believed, the upcoming phone will launch with 35W wired fast charging. An improvement over the iPhone 14 Pro, which is capped at 27W. This charging takes approximately two or so hours to fully charge an iPhone 14 Pro.

35W fast charging would make the iPhone 15 the fastest-charged smartphone in Appe’s lineup but pales in comparison to the likes of the Huawei Nova 10 SE, which supports 66W fast charging.

Another comparison can be made with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, which has 45W fast charging and can replenish a full battery in under an hour.

Apple already sells 35W dual USB Type-C chargers, but the latest iPhone models cannot take advantage of that full wattage and speed. Meanwhile, the new phone could, provided the rumours are true.

This means that an iPhone 15 could recharge from zero to 100 percent in around an hour’s mark. Importantly, 9to5Mac doesn’t know whether the 35W fast charging will be limited to Pro models, or will every device in the 15 series receive the boost.

Other notable changes believed to be heading for the new iPhone include a better night shooting mode for its camera setup thanks to Sony’s latest image sensors and the removal of physical buttons from the surface of the device.
