Vodacom customers get 30% more airtime when recharging via VodaPay

  • Vodacom says it will offer its customers 30 percent more airtime if they recharge via the network’s VodaPay platform.
  • Along with more airtime being added, the airtime will remain valid for 365 days.
  • While this initiative is clearly aimed at pushing more customers towards its VodaPay platform, it is unclear how long this offer will be in place.

Vodacom has announced a new offer of sorts that will be of interest to those customers who spend a lot of money on airtime. This as the network has said that any of its customers who purchase airtime via its VodaPay platform will receive 30 percent more airtime.

The network adds that the airtime will also remain valid for 365 days, and will not have the same restrictive limit placed on it when recharging with other methods.

Along with being able to make calls, the airtime can also be used to buy voice bundles, and SMSs, or converted into data bundles to access the internet.

“To take advantage of the 30% more airtime, customers need to make their airtime purchases through the VodaPay super app, available for download on the Apple App StoreGoogle Play Store  or Huawei App Gallery. As an example, a customer recharging with R12 will get R3.60 more airtime, totalling a full value of R15.60 for them to enjoy,” explained Vodacom in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Our goal is to exceed customer expectations by providing value and convenience. With the 30% more airtime, we are enabling customers to experience and enjoy connectivity, productivity and entertainment in line with our purpose of connecting everyone for a better future,” added Rishaad Tayob, Consumer Business director at Vodacom South Africa.

With Vodacom wanting its VodaPay platform to serve as an everything app for customers, it will be interesting to see whether this initiative will drive more usage and engagement. It is also worth noting that Vodacom has not outlined a deadline for this 30 percent offer.
