The latest Acer notebook just received its local pricing and availability, hot off the heels of its international launch. With a focus on making high-end gaming more accessible, the new Acer Nitro V 15 was revealed by the company on Tuesday.

Boasting 40 series graphics card from NVIDIA, up to 35 GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB of SSD storage, the Acer Nitro V 15 looks ready to take on the latest gaming has to offer, which is a lot if the recently updated PC requirements for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty are anything to go by.

“Smooth gaming” is on the cards with this latest notebook from Acer, with some serious specs at a price that is quite respectable compared to other gaming-focused ventures from the brand. With similar specifications as those listed above, the 15″ machine should power you through most of the latest PC titles with its robust RAM and graphics hardware. The 40-series RTX that it comes with includes the much-sought-after DLSS 3 tech, and ray tracing right on the portable PC.

Additionally, Acer says the notebook comes with DTS X: Ultra for improved sound accuracy. However, Acer has not included much information about the battery capacity of the notebook, especially while running some of the latest games which are the most energy-intensive. This is a key aspect for South African gamers looking to survive loadshedding. All that we know is that the Acer Nitro V 15 comes with a Thunderbolt 4 port for charging.

The company does detail its cooling system in a press release sent to Hypertext, explaining “To ensure the Acer Nitro V 15 is optimized throughout long gaming sessions, the device houses a tandem of fans rotating in sync and a dual-intake cooling system that draws in air from the keyboard and bottom cover, then expels heat through various vents strategically located on its sides and rear.”

Finally, Acer says that the notebook leverages the latest of the company’s AI technology. It seems nowadays these sorts of features are inescapable but it will be interesting to see if they add anything to the notebook’s day to day running.

This includes Acer Purified View and Acer Purified Voice AI-backed technology, for optimized video calls. So if you’re looking to do a bit of business before getting your game on, there’s this option at least. There is also the NitroSense utility app, which allows you to customize hardware settings to suit the game you’re playing.

The Acer also ships with one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC, which will get you playing quickly.
