Eaton launches enterprise-focused three-phase online UPS in SA

  • Eaton has announced its first-ever rack-mounted, three-phase online UPS for South Africa.
  • The Eaton 93PX 15-20kVA UPS is designed specifically for those in the enterprise space given its security features.
  • Eaton also notes that the 93PX boasts the lowest total cost of ownership on the market.

This year we have seen a number of energy solution specialists launch household offerings in South Africa as loadshedding and blackouts persist. One such specialist is Eaton, but now the company is bringing something more enterprise-focused to SA in the form of the 93PX 15-20kVA online UPS.

It also happens to the first rack-mounted, three-phase online UPS that Eaton has launched in South Africa, with the company also readying it for availability in East African countries too.

“The new Eaton 93PX 15-20 kVA UPS combines high efficiency with a compact footprint, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and improved cybersecurity, all aimed at  providing stable power for critical IT, industrial, manufacturing, and medical applications,” the company explained in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“To achieve a fully operational solution, one power module and two battery packs, each occupying 3U of space is required. This brings the total space requirement for a comprehensive setup to 9U. If you also include the Maintenance Bypass module, the total rack space utilised would be 12U. Parallel operation is also possible to achieve redundancy or an expanded power rating,” it added.

Eaton says this online UPS boasts the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) on the market, with the addition of a native Energy Saver System, and an intelligent power management solution that is compatible with all major types of virtualisation software.

Lastly, the company is touting its security capabilities, with a dedicated Cyber Secured Monitoring system providing faster responses to malfunctions, as well as delivering regular reports on UPS performance, predictive analysis, and life-cycle management.

At the time of writing, no precise or recommended pricing for this new online UPS has been detailed by Eaton, but potential enterprise customers interested in the 93PX are advised to head to its local site.
