- Huawei has unveiled two new smartwatches as part of its new Watch GT 4 lineup.
- It has the more chronograph-looking 46mm and slimmer 41mm option as part of the series.
- Both models are available for pre-pre-order in SA, with them set to go on sale in the coming weeks.
When it comes to the smartwatch space, two players have made their mark in recent quarters – Apple and Huawei. As it turns out, both companies have recently unveiled new wearables, with Apple refreshing its offering in the form of the Series 9 and Huawei doing the same by debuting two models in the Watch GT 4 lineup.
Focusing on the latter, the two options from Huawei are the 46mm and 41mm smartwatches.
The 46mm option is defined by a chronograph-type look, while the 42mm flavour is slimmer and sleeker.
While we do not have official local pricing at the time of writing, Huawei Mobile South Africa has wasted little time in drumming up interest for the device.
To that end, both models are available for pre-pre-order as part of an Early Bird special by the company. Thereafter more traditional pre-orders open up on 27th September, with it then going on sale come 6th October.
We should get a better idea of recommended retail prices on 27th September, when Huawei Mobile SA is set to host a local launch event for the devices.

Focusing on the designs a bit more, Huawei has seemingly differentiated the pair of smartwatches in terms of masculine and feminine aesthetics.
“For those who want that polished, chiselled look of the octagonal design but desire all the smart, convenient features of the smartwatch, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 in 46mm have the perfect balance. On the other hand, the smaller 41mm version is designed to look like a bracelet for an understated minimalist look – almost like jewellery statement pieces that complement cocktail looks or even casual dress-down denim outfits,” highlighted Huawei in a press release sent to Hypertext.
“The HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 will be available in 8 different colourways, with easy-to-swap HUAWEI Easyfit Straps and thousands of watch faces to choose from. Anybody who enjoys experimenting with different styles will definitely benefit from the product’s vast design offerings,” it added.
With Huawei already having plenty of enviable smartwatches in the market, it will be interesting to see where this latest pair fits in.
