Ukheshe’s Scan to Pay makes it easier to send rewards

  • Scan to Pay Powered by Ukheshe customers can now make use of a new feature that helps businesses reward customers.
  • Scan to Pay vouchers now facilitate the ability to send customers vouchers and other benefits digitally.
  • As the voucher is stored digitally, recipients can use it as needed with any excess funds being stored for use at a later date.

As you might be aware, Ukheshe recently acquired the Masterpass technology in South Africa from Mastercard. The company promptly renamed the solution to Scan to Pay Powered by Ukheshe and today it’s announced some new functionality for business owners.

The functionality is the ability to send loyal customers and even clients, vouchers that can be redeemed for goods or services offered by your business.

“Scan to Pay, powered by Ukheshe developed this new service after noticing a growing demand from businesses who want to pay out tailor-made loyalty or incentive offerings in bulk – quickly, seamlessly, and at a low cost. Scan to Pay vouchers combine the convenience of Scan to Pay technology with the benefits of rewards,” says vice president of Loyalty and Rewards at Ukheshe, Tracy-Lee Schoeman.

Essentially, this feature removes the complexity that often goes hand-in-hand with presenting customers with loyalty cards, vouchers, or gift cards. All a business needs is the person’s cellphone number where communication can be sent.

Vouchers are stored in app and if a user doesn’t the entire balance of a voucher, it can be used at another time. All transactions are processed via Ukheshe’s Eclipse API.

“We are excited about this next step in the Scan to Pay journey. Not only does it streamline business processes, but it also offers another avenue of financial inclusion in a country that is largely underbanked. It’s convenient, cost-effective, secure, and accessible to everyone involved in the journey – whether sender, recipient, or vendor,” Schoeman.

Scan to Pay has an incredibly robust ecosystem that includes six acquirers, 94 payment service providers, 14 banks and fintechs, three mobile network operators, and over 500 000 merchants across South Africa.
