New MTN Fibre package launched starting at R349 per month

  • MTN has announced a new fibre offering that starts at R349 per month.
  • Although full pricing has not been disclosed, the new MTN Fibre package will offer download speeds of up to 1Gbps.
  • The new pricing also includes installation and router.

MTN Fibre has a new offering that may be of interest to those wanting a new home connectivity solution.

As part of its Ambition 2025 strategy, the network is launching a new offering that starts at R349 per month, with installation and router included.

At the time of writing, it’s unclear how different download/upload tiered packages will be priced via this new Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) push, but the network says the maximum download will top out at 1Gbps, while the upload will be capped at 500Mbps.

“MTN Fibre is redefining the way our customers connect and communicate in an increasingly digitised world. Whether for remote work, gaming, entertainment, content creation, or just to simply stay in touch with friends and family, MTN Fibre offers South Africans the best in broadband connectivity, innovation and reliability,” enthuses Bertus Van Der Vyver, MTN SA GM for Residential.

“Our dedicated call centre team and technicians are available to assist customers in making their transition to MTN Fibre effortless and rewarding. Everyone deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life, and with MTN Fibre, they get just that,” he adds in a press release sent to Hypertext.

To assist with the push, the network notes that the fibre packages are available on month-to-month payment plans, with customers also capable of cancelling at any time. Furthermore, new customers can save up to R150 per month for the first three months as part of the launch promotion, provided they are residing in selected areas.

While the new offer is tempting given the pricing, there are still a few details missing, such as the fair usage cap on the different line speeds, as well as whether cancellations are with immediate effect.
