OPPO Find N3 series unveiled as horizontal and vertical foldable

  • OPPO has revealed two new foldables as part of its Find N3 series.
  • The devices are the Find N3 which folds vertically and the Find N3 Flip that folds horizontally.
  • No local availability or pricing has been mentioned yet, but the devices go on pre-order in selected regions tomorrow.

2023 continues to be the year when more foldables than ever have been revealed. The latest company to do so is OPPO, which has officially unveiled its new Find N3 series.

The series features two devices in particular, and now gives the Chinese phone makers two options to go head-to-head with Samsung’s Galaxy Z range. To that end, the Find N3 is a phone that folds vertically and the Find N3 Flip folds horizontally.

“Our goal at OPPO is to create the best, and that’s what we’ve done with Find N3 and Find N3 Flip. A big-screened foldable should always be a pleasure to use, so Find N3 has two clear, bright, comfortable, rich-looking displays; neither screen is a compromise. We also believe that premium smartphones should have incredible cameras; yes, even flip phones,” highlighted Pete Lau, SVP and chief product officer, at the unveiling earlier today.

“Both Find N3 and Find N3 Flip can capture life’s precious moments without missing the fine details. Underpinned by flagship performance and features that matter most to our customers, Find N3 and Find N3 Flip are ready to empower creativity, productivity, and self-expression, unlocking a new level of foldable excellence,” he added.

In terms of specifications, the two models in the series tout the following:

Looking at the larger of the two foldables, the Find N3 features OPPO’s third-generation Flexion Hinge, as well as a “self-healing layer to smooth out scuffs” according to the company which yields an almost crease-free display.

It adds that the display on the larger Find N3 has been independently tested by TÜV Rheinland to withstand 1 million folds. This is more than double that of its predecessor, which has not officially been launched in SA.

As for the smaller clamshell-style N3 Flip, it looks a lot like the Find N2 Flip 5G, which debuted locally earlier this year, although there are subtle improvements across the board to the specifications and components of the device.

Interestingly, unlike the Galaxy Z Flip5, OPPO seemingly has not increased the cover screen real estate, which is one aspect that these kinds of foldables will likely be differentiated by moving forward.

Now for pricing and availability. Here no local details have been confirmed at the time of writing, so we will probably have to wait until next year before this new lineup lands in SA. For those in selected regions, however, the OPPO Find N3 series goes up for pre-order on 20th October.

Recommended pricing for Singapore, which is the only listed pre-order country, has the Find N3 Flip priced at S$1 499 (~R20 815) and the Find N3 starting at S$2 399 (~R33 312).
